Many Weighting Comforts customers use our weighted blankets as a comforting tool when dealing with depression. Again and again, they tell us how the blankets provide calming relief and a sense of peace and comfort. The all-over weight of our blankets can actually change the brain’s chemistry, encouraging the body to release more serotonin.  Those struggling with depression often have low levels of serotonin, so a weighted blanket can be a very helpful tool.

The following testimonial came to us just a few days ago, and it’s one I’ll remember for a long time. Nothing is more rewarding than receiving stories from real people sharing the many ways that our blankets impact their daily life. And this story has a bonus at the end!

If you or someone you know struggles with depression, you’ll want to read this, and share it with friends and family. A weighted blanket may help them, too.

I don't even know how to begin to thank you. I received the blanket on Friday. I wasn't feeling well physically, so I wrapped it around me and within 30 minutes my nausea subsided. That night I put it on my bed. Saturday morning I woke up bright and chipper. I haven't felt like that in probably 10 years. I got up excited to start my day, showered, brushed my teeth, did my hair and makeup. I can't begin to tell you how long it's been since I did a morning routine that healthy. When you are severely depressed, just getting out of bed is an accomplishment. Self-care, like showering and brushing teeth, are low on the list of priorities. Doing hair and makeup is even lower.

I felt that it must have been the blanket but didn't want to get my hopes up. I decided to wait 1 week before I wrote to you and let you know how it's working for me. Though I still have pain, everything else has changed.

This week I was able to accomplish more than I have accomplished in the last six months or so. I've had more energy, less stress, less depression, less anxiety.

I am finally feeling like I used to feel - I feel mostly like myself again.

It is amazing.

My 9-year-old daughter has issues falling asleep. She always has. It takes her 45 minutes to an hour to fall asleep. So, I let her sleep with me to see if the weighted blanket helped her. She was asleep in 10 minutes!! I had her try it 1 more night just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Again, within 10 minutes she was asleep. My next goal will be trying to get her a weighted blanket.

Thank you so much for changing the quality of my life. So far, this week has been the best I have felt in years... You really have made a huge difference in my life. For this, I will be forever grateful.

Isn’t that good news? Thanks for reading and passing it along to anyone who could use some hope or comfort.

Be Comforted,
