Two weeks ago Weighting Comforts' Co-founder/CEO, Josh Durham, was among the many who ventured into the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Vidor, Texas to volunteer with hurricane relief.
"You wouldn't believe the things we saw," said Durham. "I shoveled wet clothes from a 16-year-old boy's bedroom. I carried soaking wet carpet, old wedding photos, and saw strangers helping strangers."
Durham worked alongside volunteers from a local church, Turning Point, which has continued to help feed people, renovate homes, organize and distribute supplies to the areas that were hit hard.
Turning Point Church will be bringing in a team of counselors to help people work through the trauma of losing their homes. Weighting Comforts is shipping
weighted blankets to aide the counselors as they comfort people who have lost everything.
"Pastor George and his team are doing a really good job of taking care of the people down there and they still need lots of help," said Durham.
